A Google Play gift card loads credit onto a Google account, where it pays for apps, games, in-app purchases, books and subscriptions billed through Play. Useful if you own an Android device registered in the right country. Useless in most other situations, because the code has to match the country your Google account belongs to, and that country is not something you can casually change.
The result is a lot of cards held by people who cannot spend them. A card bought in the United States is sent to a Google account registered in France. Play balances do not expire, so the card is never urgent and never spent. What to check before selling Google Play
The country lock is strict, and it is the account's country, not the phone's, that decides. A US card only redeems on a Google account registered in the United States; a euro card only on the matching European country. Changing your Play country is limited — Google allows it rarely and expects a local payment method — so a mismatched card is realistically permanent. Tell us which country and currency the card belongs to; we buy USD and EUR at the same 95%. Play Points and promotional credit are different things and we do not buy them.
The code is 20 alphanumeric characters under a scratch strip, or a string in a delivery email. It redeems in one shot to the account balance, so a card is either intact or entirely spent — there is no partial code to sell, and credit already on your Google account cannot be moved off it. Never redeem a card you plan to sell. Codes fail when already redeemed, when the till transaction never activated them, when an over-scratched strip destroyed characters, or when Google voided them after a chargeback. Play cards are heavily used in phone and message scams, which is why Giftreo never asks for a code by email, phone or direct message.

Google Play resale: your questions
- Is it legal to sell a Google Play card?
- Selling a card you legitimately own is a normal private transaction in the US and the EU. Selling one you do not own is not, and it fails anyway: Google voids codes tied to fraud or a reversed payment. If a stranger contacted you asking for Play codes, that is a scam, and we are not the ones to sell those to.
- Can I sell a card if I already used part of it?
- Not really, and it is worth being clear why. A Play code redeems in full to your account balance in one action, so there is no partial code left to sell. Any remaining credit lives on your Google account and cannot be moved off it. If the code is still unredeemed, we buy the whole face value at 95%.
- How fast do I get paid?
- About an hour from when the code reaches us is normal. Verification is the bulk of that; the crypto transfer takes minutes. Codes needing a manual second look take longer, and we tell you when that happens. Payment goes out only after verification clears.
- Which regions do you buy from?
- USD cards for the United States and EUR cards for the Eurozone, at 95% either way — the flat rate we pay right across the catalogue. We verify the two separately, so name the country when you submit. Cards for other regional Play stores are not bought here right now, because we cannot check them reliably enough to quote a rate we would have to honour.
- Do you need ID, and can I sell more than one?
- No documents for ordinary sales. An email address and a wallet address is all we need to pay you. Submit several cards at once if you like — each face value is verified individually, two 25 USD cards paying the same 95% as one 50 USD card. For unusually large batches we ask about origin.
