Toneo First is a French prepaid service. You buy a top-up code in a tobacconist or online, enter it in your Toneo First account, and the amount lands on a prepaid Mastercard you can spend anywhere Mastercard is accepted. It is euro-only and built around one ecosystem, which is what makes a code handy to one person and dead weight to another.
Codes go unused for a short list of predictable reasons. Someone bought one as a gift for a person who does not hold a Toneo First account, or who lives outside France. Someone topped up more than they meant to and never entered the second code. There is no refund counter for a top-up voucher. At 95%, a spare 150 EUR code returns 142.50 EUR in crypto, the same rate every brand on our sell desk is bought at.
What to check before selling Toneo First
Toneo First has no currency question attached to it. There is no USD or GBP variant; every code is euro-denominated, and we buy the 20, 50, 100 and 150 EUR values at a flat 95%, which works out to 19.00, 47.50, 95.00 and 142.50 EUR respectively. What matters is that the code has never been entered anywhere. A Toneo First top-up credits an account balance in a single action, so the instant the code is typed into an account, the value belongs to that account and the code is empty.
That makes a partly spent Toneo code a category that barely exists: it is either untouched or worth nothing, and spending the prepaid Mastercard afterwards has no bearing on the code you are selling. We verify first and pay 95% of the balance verification finds. Codes are refused when they have already been loaded, when a character was transcribed wrong (photograph the code rather than retyping it), when the scratch panel is damaged, or when the issuer has blocked the voucher. Toneo First resale: your questions
- Is selling a Toneo First code I do not need legal?
- Selling a prepaid top-up voucher you bought or were given is an ordinary transfer of value. The condition is ownership, and you confirm it when you submit the code. We do not buy codes taken from an account that is not yours, forwarded by a stranger, or of unknown origin. A gift you received is fine to sell; a code you cannot account for is not.
- What if the code has already been loaded into an account?
- Then there is nothing left to buy. A Toneo First top-up moves its full value in one action, so a loaded code holds a zero balance and pays out zero, even if the money is still sitting on the prepaid Mastercard. This is the most common reason a Toneo submission fails, so check before submitting rather than after.
- How long until the crypto arrives?
- About an hour after the code clears verification. The verification step is what varies, since it depends on the issuer responding; the payout itself takes minutes. We send BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, SOL or LTC to the address you gave. When checks back up it runs longer, and we will say so rather than quote a fixed time.
- Do I have to be in France to sell one?
- No. Redeeming a Toneo First code effectively requires a French account, but selling one does not, and being outside France is one of the main reasons people hold a code they cannot use. Payout is in crypto to an address you control, so no French bank details and no residency check are involved.
- Can I sell several codes, and will you want ID?
- Several is fine. Send them one at a time so each is verified and priced on its own: two 100 EUR codes at 95% come to 2 x 95.00, or 190.00 EUR. No ID is asked for on a standard voucher sale. Worth repeating because Toneo codes circulate on French classifieds: Giftreo only accepts codes through the sell form and never solicits one by message.
